Richard "Dick" Wood has been a resident of St. Helen since 1976. He and his wife raised 2 daughters here and continue to share in the lives of many residents in St. Helen.

Richard has serverd his country and community since 1964 starting out as a soldier in the army. Richard received an honorable discharge from the army as an E5 Sergeant and later an honorable discharge from the National Guard as an E8 First Sergeant. In addition to his service to his country Richard was a Macomb County Sheriff's Deputy and a Richfield Township Police Officer. Richard retired from active duty as a Richfield Township Police Officer in 1991.

Richard has continued to be a community leader by serving as an instructor at Kirtland Community College as a Police Academy Instructor (1993-2002) and by serving as Richfield Township Supervisor (2005-2009). Currently Richard serves as a board member of Rural Education Matters, The Roscommon County Transportation Authority, and The Saint helen Community Baptist Church.
